Area network guidance

(NB “area” applies to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in addition to the English regions, to distinguish activities there from UK activities.)

(a) Area Promoter(s)
One or two people in each area willing to act as a link with local leaders and churches, especially in the initial stages. They would, in consultation with the UK Networks Co-ordinator, seek to convene a Task Group, representative (as far as possible) of the Partnership churches in the area:

(b) Area Task or Steering Groups:
A task group in each area will seek to:
• promote Partnership’s aims and objectives
• act as a support group to each other
• arrange local activities
• encourage other independent churches to join in activities and to join Partnership
• promote co-operation in evangelism & church planting
• encourage participation in the UK activities, Council and Executive Group

(c) Area activities and resources
Task groups are encouraged to arrange regular activities, e.g.
• an open/training event
• a leaders’ retreat
• a local consultants’ list
It is important that local events scratch church leaders where they itch, in terms of their perceived needs and those of their churches. Suggestions might include workshops, think tanks, specialist events (e.g. for children’s/youth leaders); some meetings might circulate around each area if appropriate. From time to time a Partnership Road-show might be held in each area, to make local churches more aware of the all-UK dimension. The target group for area activities should be any churches of a Partnership ethos, whether Brethren, ex Brethren, independent, Missions, etc. The task group should aim to include men and women, young and old.

The area activities should be self-sustaining and self-financing, and a properly regulated bank account should be held in the name of the group by at least two of its members, agreed by the task group as a whole.
