Finance
Partnership aims to be a work for the Lord. We rely on him to meet the financial needs of the work in a variety of ways.
Legally, Partnership is the work of Partnership (UK) Limited, which is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity. The report and accounts for the financial year to 31 March 2008, and earlier, have been filed at Companies House. Copies may be obtained from the Treasurer. The report and accounts are normally filed in December, following approval at the Annual General Meeting of the Company at the end of November.
In the financial year up to 31 March 2008, Partnership (UK) Ltd's total income for unrestricted purposes was £24,548 and its expenditure £13,611. The net surplus on the general fund was £10,937. Just over £16,600 of income was attributable to subscriptions from members including member churches and about £1,150 to sales of publications. Gifts and donations for general purposes (see below for staff support) amounted to £4,006. Approximately £8,400 was spent on producing and distributing Partnership publications.
There is a number of restricted funds, including in particular a paid staff fund. This fund received income in 2007/08 of £24,643. Expenditure to support paid staff is currently running at £28,000 a year including office and travel expenses.
Partnership’s total expenditure on its general and staff funds is at present running at approximately £45,000 a year overall.
These figures do not by any means fully reflect the effort given to maintaining Partnership's activities. This is because a range of individuals give very substantial amounts of time on a wholly voluntary basis to further the ministry. In some cases, the individuals spend up to 80% of their working time on Partnership activities. If voluntary unpaid work for Partnership had to be remunerated it would require of the order of £150,000 a year. These individuals also frequently themselves choose to meet incidental expenses, travel expenses, etc associated with the work.
Gifts and donations (in addition to subscriptions) are essential if the ministry is to be maintained. For those paying UK income tax, gifts can be made under Gift Aid arrangements. Those wishing to make gifts and donations should contact the Treasurer (Euan Menzies, 24 Balcombe Road, Haywards Heath, West Sussex, RH16 1PF).
