Areas

A key way in which Partnership seeks to achieve its goals is by encouraging activities at the area level. Typically, these are led by a small steering group, where possible with representation from the Partnership Council. The group comprises people from the area concerned, who know the Partnership and other churches in the area and who are best placed to shape a programme of activities which meets the needs of the area. Activities vary between areas, but tend to include 24-hour, day or half-day conferences, training events and programmes, and informal networking events for church leaders and others. All these activities aim to develop and train leadership (in the broadest sense) for our churches. (Guidance for area activities.)
Encouragement of area activities is the responsibility of Partnership’s UK Networks Co-ordinator (currently Bob Tripney (until 30 September 2007)). The Co-ordinator’s role is to maintain contacts with each area and to encourage the initiation and re-invigoration of area activities as necessary.
At present there are programmes of activity in the following areas:
  1. Scotland (steering group )
  2. Yorkshire (steering group )
  3. West Midlands (steering group ) (joint group with Counties)
  4. South and East Midlands (steering group Bob Tripney )
  5. East Anglia (steering group )
  6. South West (steering group )

Partnership is at present working on the establishment or re-establishment of area activities in the North East, Essex, the South East and Wales. We should like to hear from anyone who is interested in helping to stimulate Partnership activities in these areas (or any other area of the country where you think Partnership activities are needed).
